Grief & Bereavement

To be human is to grieve. At some point in our lives, we all experience loss—yet that doesn’t make it any easier to process, understand, or accept.

Grief can come from many kinds of loss: the death of a loved one or pet, the end of a relationship or career, a decline in physical or mental health, or the loss of a future we once imagined. However it arises, the impact is profound. Grief is deeply personal, there’s no right or wrong way to grieve, and no single path to healing.

The emotions that come with grief can be overwhelming: sadness, anger, numbness, guilt, confusion. Often, we try to protect ourselves or those around us from the depth of our pain, but this can delay the healing we need in order to move forward.

Grief doesn’t disappear, it doesn’t shrink or fade away. Instead, we grow around it. The space left by our loss can never be fully filled, but over time, we learn to live alongside it. The future may look different now. The world can feel unrecognizable. While life goes on for others, yours may feel like it has stopped.

There is no set timeline or fixed stages for grieving. It’s a process, and one that unfolds uniquely for each person. Counselling offers a space to begin that process, to gently explore your grief at your own pace, in your own way.

Together, we can work towards finding solid ground again. You don’t have to face this alone.
