Like many people, the global pandemic prompted me to re-evaluate my working life. That reflection led me to begin my journey toward becoming a therapeutic counsellor. What I hadn’t anticipated was just how transformative that journey would be—not only professionally, but personally.
When I began my training, I was unaware of the many different approaches to counselling and therapy. As I explored them, I found myself deeply resonating with the work of Carl Rogers and the principles of Person-Centred Counselling. I completed my training at Carino Counselling in Letchworth, where these values—empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard, are embedded not just in theory, but in everyday practice. They guide the way I work with clients and how I relate to the world around me.
Alongside my training, in my career as a singing teacher, in both private practice and schools, I have supported people of all ages and abilities to develop their voice and musical skills. What I’ve learned through teaching is that it’s often not a person’s vocal ability that limits them, but their belief in their right to express themselves. This insight naturally complements my therapeutic work, where creating space for self-expression and self-acceptance is key.
Alongside my private practice, I also volunteer with:
The Road Victims Trust – Supporting people affected by fatal road collisions across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire.
Pegasus – Wellbeing Centre for Men – A national agency offering counselling for those in need.
Through these roles, I’ve supported clients in person, online, and by phone. The issues we’ve worked through together include traumatic bereavement, childhood abuse, domestic violence, relationship difficulties, anxiety, low self-worth, and more.
To ensure the safety of my clients and myself I have regular supervision as part of my membership of the BACP. I also have independent personal and professional insurance.
The areas of specialisation I offer stem from my personal and professional experiences, issues which I feel passionate about. Menopause & Perimenopause, Grief & Bereavement and Professional Musicians. I know how having counselling has helped me and I want to be able to offer that to other people.
My love of nature and spending time outdoors impels me to work outside, using nature as source of peace, and strength, a place to expand ourselves and our horizons.
This work is a privilege. I believe in meeting people where they are, offering a compassionate, non-judgmental space to explore whatever they need to bring.
